Where do I start? I’m a mother to one adorable little man and another one on the way in Feb 2016. I’m married to a Fire Fighter and love working, yes love it! I had 2-3 weeks between selling my business and starting Shesmystylist.co my fashion blog and a platform for Perth Fashion. I am ambitious, driven and passionate about small business especially helping Women get their brands and labels out to the Perth market place.
I bought my first business at 23. I found there was no network to meet similar young creative women when they were establishing and building their own businesses. I also didn’t know where to find a mentor or business coach that was modern, trendy, into social media plus on my wave length.
I fumbled my way through, learning so many valuable lessons as I went. From having 13 staff, to days where there was not a client through my door (with a $1000 per week Subiaco rent hovering of my head!). Every business even small ones are full of daily challenges.
I sold my business Christmas week 2014 when my son was 6 months old, I felt I couldn’t run the business to the fullest potential so with a heavy heart I decided after 8 years it was time to move on.
I fell into Business Consulting and Coaching by accident after a former client called and asked me to help with business marketing and building a profile in Perth. By word of mouth suddenly it had snowballed into a new small business venture.
I find it so rewarding helping women turn their hobbies into small businesses. There are so many free or low-cost marketing ideas that will transform your business plus let the rest of WA know about you!
On May 13 2015 I had an idea. 2 hours later I launched The Perth Collective on Instagram. Within a week this movement, based around the idea of providing a free platform to promote WA Small Female Owned Business, had grown at rapid speed. In the first week TPC had 2223 followers and 123 Perth small business featured on Instagram and this was just the beginning.
7 weeks later in July, The Perth Collective launch in spectacular style at the C Restaurant with 175 Female Small Business Owners from all over WA meeting and bonding over champagne and canapés while taking in the beautiful Perth Skyline. Two other Events followed this Breakfast Session at Frasers of Kings Park and then Summer Long Table at The Cottesloe Beach Hotel in November.
5 months on from that one idea TPC now has over 36,000 followers on social media providing priceless exposure for those female owned business that feature on the blog and Instagram feed. I have also run 25 Sold Out Social Media and Small Business Workshops and 3 Girl Boss Events all in these few short months.
The start of 2016 will see me take a break from the Workshops and Events to welcome our second baby into the world. The Instagram and TPC Blog will still continue during this time featuring the amazing talents of WA Creative Women.
